Since 1980, 3M™ has offered an alternative to conventional mechanical fastening systems with its VHB™ adhesive tapes. The high-performance bonding tapes enable the permanent, tension-free bonding of different materials such as metal and glass. For universal applications, for example without special temperature requirements, the economically highly attractive RP series (RP16, RP25, RP32, RP45) has been designed. In addition, there are highly transparent versions (3M™ 4905, 4910, 4918), variants for bonding before (3M™ 4646, 4611, and new: GPH 060 and GPH 110) and after (3M™ 5915, 5925, 5952) powder coating and versions especially for applications on low-energy surfaces (3M™ 4932, 4952). Product highlights from Nitto

Nitto is currently presenting a new series of low emission tapes. The special feature of these double-sided adhesive tapes, such as the 5015ELE or the 5704LE, is that virtually no solvents are used in their manufacture. Thus, these products are mainly used in interior applications in the automotive sector when it comes to the invisible and odourless bonding of different substrates.
In addition, Nitto offers further solutions for the lift and especially automotive industry with its own manufactured EPDM foams, such as the 686, EE-1010 or the EC-1200N, when it comes to sealing and acoustics, among others.

Established products

The 4224 film developed for CO² lasers, also available as the 4224RE version with blue arrows, is one of the most widely used and established 100µm films in metal processing. With the 4228REF, Novacel also offers a specially developed film for processing for fibre lasers (solid-state lasers). In addition, the 4223 covers a wide range of applications as a universally applicable 80µm film.

On structured and slightly grained surfaces, the 4160 (as a transparent 50µm film without UV protection) as well as the 4273 (as a grey/white 105µm film with 6 months UV protection) offer excellent adhesive properties.

As a paint protection film, Novacel offers 9275, a pure white PO film with an acrylate adhesive that is also approved for use in the automotive sector. It is primarily used as a transport protection film during delivery.

The plastics processing industry also relies on tailor-made solutions from Novacel, for example with the films 4100 or 4510. These transparent 50-μm protective films are particularly suitable for protecting a wide range of smooth, matt and slightly structured plastic surfaces, such as PMMA, PVC, polycarbonate or polystyrene.

Products in focus

Scapa offers a wide range of single and double-sided PVC foam tapes. The single-sided products are available in different densities and hardnesses from soft (Scapa 3099) to medium-hard (Scapa 3257/3259) to hard (Scapa 3507/3509) and are used in a variety of applications as sealing tapes. The double-sided PVC foam tapes are used as mounting tapes (Scapa 5164/5169) or as bar tapes. The PE foam tape Scapa 5464/5469, which is also equipped with acrylate adhesive, is also suitable as the latter. The rubber adhesive coated Scapa 5474, on the other hand, has been established for years as a mirror tape.

For the electrical sector, Scapa, as one of the largest producers of PVC insulating tapes, also offers a wide range of products with (Scapa 2702/6022) and without (Scapa 2701) VDE approval.

The newly launched ACXplus series, for example, uses 50 percent less solvents in the manufacturing process than comparable products. These double-sided high-performance adhesive tapes from the ACXplus family, such as the highly transparent 7054 or the particularly strong 7066, are manufactured in Hamburg using a special technology that has received an award from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment.

Today's tesa SE was founded in 1941 by Hugo Kirchberg in Hamburg and has since specialised in the production of adhesive tapes and other self-adhesive products for consumers and, above all, industry. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Beiersdorf AG, around 80 per cent of tesa's total sales (approx.
